Modesty

Now that I have a 2.5 year old daughter the following subject is on my not too distant horizon...

http://www.feministmormonhousewives.org/2012/09/mormon-modesty-we-have-to-do-better/

I think there are some valid arguments in this article, but I don't think she gives a good answer as to how things should be done, or specific examples of correct ways to do things to counter the negative examples given.  I definitely don't have any answers.  What are your thoughts on this article overall and proper ways to teach modesty with the fundamental principle that our bodies are temples?

I've been wanting to write something like this and I don't think I could have worded it better. There are 1000 things I want to say but I will sum it up by saying I completely agree and I'm all fired up right now having just read it!

Interesting. I grew up in a home where I didn't wear tanktops, unless it was my cheer uniform in high school (double standard I'm sure). My cousins had to wear shorts down to their knees. Thankfully I didn't have to do that. I try to teach Aubrey modesty. She has to wear shirts under some of her sundresses and I make her wear leggings to church. Until she can learn to not sit without her legs up and spread so that everyone knows what kind of princess is on her panties, that's the way we do it. I'm not eloquent with my words and probably won't say what I really mean, so I suggest saving this conversation for when we are around each other. Even if it's cute and in style, Aubrey won't be dressing in what I'm going to refer to as the worlds standard of immodest clothing. A mom in my ward makes her 4 year old daughter raise her hands up and if her stomach shows, she can't wear the shirt. That's probably going too far at a young age, yet that girl is learning how to stay modest.
